Her smile broadened exponentially at that. "Yes... we are." Surprisingly, when she'd revealed the news to her children, they'd started with surprised only to end with concern when things imploded. In a way, she'd expected more negativity at the idea of having to share her with someone else. All their lives, all they had was each others.
Her mind came back into focus as he told her to stay out of the battles. Brow furrowing, she ducked her head. Hand gently curled about his as the idea of being useless now hit. She understood. She didn't want to risk their child. Lowering her forehead against his shoulder she sighed heavily.
It hurt. More than she expected it to. Closing her eyes tightly, she tucked her head down further into him. "Alec... I know... I know I can't risk it, but I can't let you get hurt either. I can't lose you again. So I have to sit back again? And worry about losing you?" Letting out a slow sigh, she shook her head.
"I'll be as careful as I can." But the idea of not being there to keep him safe... it ate her up on the inside. Steadying the fear, she tipped her head back up finally and nuzzled into his neck. Closing her eyes, she pressed a kiss to his pulse. "You are the center of our family. I love you... and even if it kills me... I'll try my best to do as you ask."
